To workaround this (for now) till the bug is fixed, set
mds_wipe_sessions = true
in ceph.conf, allow the MDS to transition to `active` state. Once
done, flush the journal:
ceph tell mds.<> flush journal
then you can safely remove the config.

Is what I found in the logs. Since it's referring to log replaying,
