Dear Myoungwon and Sage Weil,
I would be honored to participate in Cephalocon 2020 as a keynote speaker.
I have been working on Operating Systems and Distributed Systems, especially the SSD
effects on them.
Here's the tentative title and abstract of the talk.
Let me know what you think.
Best Regards,
Heonyoung Yeom
The impact of fast storage on the distributed file system
With the introduction of the SSD and its wide spread use these days, the world of storage
is changing with far reaching effect on operating systems, computer architecture and
distributed file system. While confined within the SATA interface, the effect was minimal.
However, the NVMe interface has changed everything upside down.
Traditionally, the storage device has been a black box. The interface cleanly separated
the applications and operating systems from the inner workings of the storage device,
making everything simple and clear. However, the sudden increase in speed and parallelism
as well as the unique physical characteristics of the storage devices make it necessary to
somehow coordinate the actions between the storage device and the system software.
In this talk, I will look at the actual changes of the storage device itself and its
impact on the storage stack of the operating systems and how this change would affect the
distributed files systems, especially Ceph.

I copy Prof. Yeom to this email thread to coordinate the schedule.
Prof. Yeom
I'd like introduce Sage Weil who is the founder and chief architect of Ceph.
As I explained via email, it would be great if you give a keynote
speech at Cephalocon 2020.
The keynote date is the 5th march (Thursday). So, you are able to
attend and do a keynote.
And, to organize conference schedule, Sage need a talk tile and abstract.
Please let us know these information.
Regards,
Myoungwon
