We did use it, but moved to ceph-volume lvm create --dmcrypt later on.

One more thing, the unlocking step at boot would have really long boring timeouts at our place, so if you had a bad drive but the SED unlocking still thought it was going to be readable, the boot would take ages because it would not give up until a long time had passed. -- May the most significant bit of your life be positive.
