The tracker issue is https://tracker.ceph.com/issues/82496, "umbrella: 21.2.0 shipped with ceph_release set to dev and cephadm defaulting to the ceph-ci main image". It's in Fix Under Review. I also filed two follow-ups on 11-02 aimed at stopping this from happening again: https://tracker.ceph.com/issues/82552: "cephadm: a stable release must not default to the ceph-ci main image" https://tracker.ceph.com/issues/82551: "make-dist: refuse an rc or stable version whose src/ceph_release is behind" Until a fixed cephadm ships, name the image when bootstrapping: cephadm --image quay.io/ceph/ceph:v21.2.0 <http://quay.io/ceph/ceph:v21.2.0>bootstrap --mon-ip .... That tag has been on quay.io <http://quay.io/> since 10-28.

Hi,
I think this slack thread covers that:
... it happens bcz main now is vampire, try with --allow-mismatched-release

Zitat von Marcus <ceph-users@ceph.io>:
Hi all, I have so far been installing ceph manually but as I just got hardware delivered for a new ceph cluster I descided to install umbrella with cephadm. We are using debian so on debian trixie I ran: apt install cephadm cephadm add-repo --release umbrella # Verified that cephadm was in version umbrella cephadm bootstrap --mon-ip ......
Output from bootstrap: This is a develpment version of cephadm. Verifying..... .... ERROR: Container release vampier != cephadm release umbrella;
Am I missing something or is there some type of missmatch of versions?
Many thanks in advance!!
