I wouldn't say common, but I did this for many customers. I usually install Varnish Cache in between. In addition to use it as a WAF we can also easily cache Object so it can serve a lot of traffic. As the traffic to RGW is predictable in many cases we can create WAF rules for the RGW. Wido
