Hey, On Sunday, June 21, 2026, I will be performing scheduled Redmine maintenance that will introduce two new features: • GitHub Authentication (OAuth Login) • Kanban Board Plugin The maintenance is expected to have minimal user impact and will not affect existing projects, permissions, issues, comments, attachments, or user accounts. Current username/password authentication will continue to work exactly as it does today. GitHub authentication is entirely optional and is provided as an additional login method for users who prefer it. GitHub Authentication Users who wish to use GitHub authentication will be able to log in using their GitHub account after the maintenance. Existing Redmine Users 1. Click *Login with GitHub* on the Redmine login page. 2. Authorize Redmine to authenticate using your GitHub account. 3. If the email address associated with your GitHub account matches the email address already registered in Redmine, Redmine will automatically link the GitHub account to your existing Redmine account. 4. You will be logged in with your existing permissions, project memberships, issue assignments, and account settings. No new account will be created, and none of your existing Redmine data will change. New Users If no matching Redmine account exists: 1. Click *Login with GitHub* on the Redmine login page. 2. Authorize Redmine to authenticate using your GitHub account. 3. You will be prompted to complete the Redmine registration form by providing the required information, including: - Password - First Name - Last Name 4. After submitting the form, a new Redmine account will be created. 5. Redmine will send an account activation email to your registered email address. 6. Click the activation link in the email. 7. Once the account has been activated, you can log in to Redmine using GitHub. Important Notes - The email address associated with your GitHub account must match your Redmine email address for automatic account linking to occur. - For GitHub authentication to work correctly, the email address associated with your GitHub account must be verified and publicly visible in your GitHub profile. - Users who have enabled GitHub's email privacy feature ("Keep my email addresses private") will need to disable it and ensure their primary email address is visible before attempting to log in with GitHub. - GitHub authentication is an additional login option. Existing Redmine username/password authentication will remain available. Kanban Board The maintenance will also introduce a Kanban Board plugin that provides a visual way to manage and track issues using drag-and-drop workflow boards. The Kanban Board is an optional feature and does not change existing issue workflows, projects, permissions, or tracking processes. Users can continue working with the standard Redmine issue views if preferred. Maintenance Window The maintenance is scheduled for Sunday, June 21, 2026.
