v20.2.1 Merge Window Closing Soon (Feb 13th)
Hello everyone, v20.2.0 was released 2025 November 18th. We are now looking to push out a new minor release of Tentacle as there have been substantial changes since. I have created a master ticket here which includes some of the process I am beginning to introduce to streamline our releases to make them more predictable. https://tracker.ceph.com/issues/74838 We now have merge windows for minor releases. At this time, this continues to be our normal process (as outlined in the ticket): * Label a backport PR "needs-qa" * Ping Yuri if it's an urgent blocker * Yuri will create a QA ticket and the component lead or deputy can review. If you consider a PR to be a blocker for the minor release, please also bring it up in the upstream Slack channel: #ceph-upstream-releases. I (Patrick) will go through each backport PR before merging into Tentacle by the end of the week. An extension is unlikely. Following this, we plan to have a QA window for two weeks. During this time the tentacle branch will be unavailable for merges except to resolve: * Regressions found during v20.2.1 testing * Critical bugs Please be patient while we try to institute an effective and predictable process for Ceph releases. You may become involved by attending the new Ceph Release Engineering call. It is currently scheduled for Thursdays at 4pm EDT. (We will likely soon schedule a second call during the week for APAC/EMEA.) The meeting minutes are available here [1].
