Hi,
I'm trying to build a DEBUG version of Ceph's reef-release branch on a
virtual Ubuntu-LTS 22.04 running on Lima by following the README on Ceph's
github repo. The build failed and the last CMake error was ""g++-11: error:
unrecognized command-line option
'-Wimplicit-const-int-float-conversion'". Could anyone
please help me figure out I can do to track down and fix the compilation
error? Below are more details.
The system configuration is as follows:
> uname -a
Linux lima-ceph-dev 5.15.0-86-generic #96-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 20 08:23:49
UTC 2023 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
> lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS
Release: 22.04
Codename: jammy
I followed the instructions on the README in Ceph's github repo:
https://github.com/ceph/ceph, and the command ./do_cmake.sh failed at step
[137/2150] that builds frontend dashboard with the error message "ninja:
build stopped: subcommand failed." The last error logged in the file
CMakeError.log has to do with "g++-11: error: unrecognized command-line
option '-Wimplicit-const-int-float-conversion'".
Below the last error message on the CMakeError.log:
Performing C++ SOURCE FILE Test
COMPILER_SUPPORTS_WARN_IMPLICIT_CONST_INT_FLOAT_CONVERSION failed with the
following output:
Change Dir: /home/dyuan.linux/ceph/build/CMakeFiles/CMakeTmp
Run Build Command(s):/usr/bin/ninja cmTC_bab6d && [1/2] Building CXX object
CMakeFiles/cmTC_bab6d.dir/src.cxx.o
FAILED: CMakeFiles/cmTC_bab6d.dir/src.cxx.o
/usr/bin/g++-11
-DCOMPILER_SUPPORTS_WARN_IMPLICIT_CONST_INT_FLOAT_CONVERSION -fPIE
-Wimplicit-const-int-float-conversion -std=c++20 -o
CMakeFiles/cmTC_bab6d.dir/src.cxx.o -c
/home/dyuan.linux/ceph/build/CMakeFiles/CMakeTmp/src.cxx
g++-11: error: unrecognized command-line option
'-Wimplicit-const-int-float-conversion'
ninja: build stopped: subcommand failed.
I also tried to build ceph on the docker quay.io/centos/centos and got the
same g++ failure.
Hi all,
If you were in the Jitsi CDM call, there was an outage that removed many
from the call. Please join us at GMeet: https://meet.google.com/vyg-zocc-qtm

Closing the loop (blocked waiting for Neha's input): how are we using Gibba
on a day-to-day basis? Is it only used for checking reef point releases?
- To be discussed again next week, as Neha had a conflict
[Nizam] http://old.ceph.com/pgcalc is not working anymore, is there any
replacement for pgcalc page in the new ceph site?
- Last attempt at a fix https://github.com/ceph/ceph.io/issues/265
- Nizam will take a look; the PR needs some CSS work
- We may not even need this link due to the autoscaler, etc.
- Perhaps add some kind of "banner" to the pgcalc page to make it clear
that users should look to the autoscaler
Update on 18.2.1 bluestore issue?
- Fix has been raised; also not as serious as initially suspected
- Fix is in testing

Hi,
I have an image with a snapshot and some changes after snapshot.
```
$ rbd du backup/f0408e1e-06b6-437b-a2b5-70e3751d0a26
NAME PROVISIONED USED
f0408e1e-06b6-437b-a2b5-70e3751d0a26@snapshot-eb085877-7557-4620-9c01-c5587b857029 10 GiB 2.4 GiB
f0408e1e-06b6-437b-a2b5-70e3751d0a26 10 GiB 2.4 GiB
<TOTAL> 10 GiB 4.8 GiB
```
If there is no changes after snapshot, the image line will show 0 used.
I did export and import.
```
$ rbd export --export-format 2 backup/f0408e1e-06b6-437b-a2b5-70e3751d0a26 - | rbd import --export-format 2 - backup/test
Exporting image: 100% complete...done.
Importing image: 100% complete...done.
```
When check the imported image, the image line shows 0 used.
```
$ rbd du backup/test
NAME PROVISIONED USED
test@snapshot-eb085877-7557-4620-9c01-c5587b857029 10 GiB 2.4 GiB
test 10 GiB 0 B
<TOTAL> 10 GiB 2.4 GiB
```
Any clues how that happened? I'd expect the same du as the source.
I tried another quick test. It works fine.
```
$ rbd create backup/test-src --size 10G
$ sudo rbd map backup/test-src
/dev/rbd0
$ echo "hello" | sudo tee /dev/rbd0
hello
$ rbd du backup/test-src
NAME PROVISIONED USED
test-src 10 GiB 4 MiB
$ rbd snap create backup/test-src@snap-1
Creating snap: 100% complete...done.
$ rbd du backup/test-src
NAME PROVISIONED USED
test-src@snap-1 10 GiB 4 MiB
test-src 10 GiB 0 B
<TOTAL> 10 GiB 4 MiB
$ echo "world" | sudo tee /dev/rbd0
world
$ rbd du backup/test-src
NAME PROVISIONED USED
test-src@snap-1 10 GiB 4 MiB
test-src 10 GiB 4 MiB
<TOTAL> 10 GiB 8 MiB
$ rbd export --export-format 2 backup/test-src - | rbd import --export-format 2 - backup/test-dst
Exporting image: 100% complete...done.
Importing image: 100% complete...done.
$ rbd du backup/test-dst
NAME PROVISIONED USED
test-dst@snap-1 10 GiB 4 MiB
test-dst 10 GiB 4 MiB
<TOTAL> 10 GiB 8 MiB
```
Thanks!
Tony
