Dear Everyone,
This is Jaesuk Ahn. We are all also saddened by the cancellation of
Cephalocon in Seoul, and hope everyone in Ceph community stays safe and
healthy.
Since all community members in Korea were really excited about getting
Cephalocon in our country, it is a real shame to see the opportunity
getting away.
Having said that, I would like to offer some options to have Ceph presence
in Seoul. It does not to be Cephalocon, however, it would be great we can
have community presence (some of speakers, participants) here in Seoul.
Option 1. I am working with OpenStack Ops Meetup community to host
OpsMeetup (this is a global event happening twice a year) in Seoul in early
September. If we have "Ceph Community Meetup" along with OpsMeetup, that
would be a good addition
Option 2. OpenStack, Ceph, OCP, Kubernetes User Groups in Korea are
planning "Open Infra Community Day" this year, probably sometime in July.
This is the biggest annual community event we are doing as an extended
version of original "Open Infrastructure Days Korea".
https://openinfradays.kr/
This is just an idea at this level. I would like to hear your opinion on
these options. If you are interested in pursuing one of the above ideas, I
would be happy to follow up, with support from community members in Korea.
FYI, we can possibly discuss combining Option 1 and Option 2, but it
requires more discussion involving several stakeholders.:) I will try.
Thanks

Dear team,
we're all saddened by the cancellation of Cephalocon and particularly
the reason for it, and hope everyone stays safe and healthy.
We have a lot of great content queued for Cephalocon, and are not quite
sure yet when Cephalocon can be rescheduled in 2020, or more likely, if
it can be at all.
So much thought and planning has gone into the event and content that it
would be a shame to see it go to waste!
SUSE has our annual SUSECON planned for end of March in Dublin, and we'd
like to extend the offer of having a Ceph track at the event.
We could offer registrants a very discounted price, and also invite
speakers from Cephalocon to attend and present their sessions at SUSECON
(in supplement to the Ceph content that is already there). We could also
feasibly dedicate a room one day to the Ceph Foundation.
We should also be able to record sessions there, so while it's not as
wonderful as being in Seoul, content could be made available globally
and help those who can't travel at this time.
SUSE would like to help mitigate the cancellation and help the community
with the coronavirus impact.
Let me know your thoughts.
Regards,
Lars
PS: Sorry for the Cc, not sure which of the two lists is best.

Hi All -
Eddy Kioi was one of the recipients of the speaker travel fund and his flight is non-refundable. What are your thoughts on refunding these fees since he wasn’t in a place to pay the funds?

Hi All -
Please take a look at the proposed language <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1w6VkS_7Fb--sH6ZfzlVKFSG0q2LkZwVaAhIaUYv…> to send to registered attendees. We will send this email out today once you approve.
For sponsors, we believe they have three options and they can select their confernece. 1 - keep money held until rescheduling or not is confirmed, 2 - full refund, 3 - have money transferred to another event. Any concerns with these?

I've also been wondering all weekend what kind of impact this will have.
I suspect that at this point we just need to wait a see... but we may need
to have some contingency plan if the outbreak gets worse.
