Paid support options?
We've reached the point of our ceph cluster's life where it make sense to have an outside vendor in the passenger seat with us. I already know of a few but I see value in having a thread consolidating this information so I'm leaving it open ended. The two main questions I'm asking are: What vendors offer paid ceph support? Do they have specific requirements? I don't mind to be also included in these responses. Would like to have a backup solution to my own ceph cluster ;)
Do they have specific requirements? (e.g. must run their version of ceph vs community,
I doubt it, the basics stay the same
must be containerized vs bare metal)
I think the containerized experienced people will be able to facilitate the bare metal solutions without any issues.
Names that come to mind: Clyso OSNEXUS 42on / Fairbanks Redhat / IBM - has their distribution, do not know if they require Croit - has their novel distribution Some of us do an occasional bit of small-scale consulting as individuals

I'll jump on this thread as well. There's a slight possibility we may want to outsource the management of our Ceph cluster. It's too early to seriously discuss, but since this thread conveniently came today up as we were talking about this topic at work, I'll also ask who can do support, but the catch is that we're running Redhat / IBM Ceph and are not thrilled with their level of support. We'd likely want to stay with Redhat / IBM Ceph disto, but possibly use another company for the support. Ideally with staff in US East. Thanks.
I will tell you from personal experience that our company is using 42on (42on.com<http://www.42on.com/>) / Fairbanks.nl for our new 5+ Petabyte Ceph cluster. We have two environments - dev/test and production - and they worked with us through getting the environment setup with what our plan was, what we had already purchased, what was recommended with our current specs, etc. Both environments were deployed with Canonical's MAAS product (bare-metal provisioning) and the newer Cephadm tool. Hello hello from Canonical, It really depends what is needed in terms of support, do you just need to keep things ticking over for the remainder of the current release you are using, or do you need a long term partner to help you grow, expand, upgrade over time? (e.g. must run their version of ceph vs community, must be containerized vs bare metal) Another question you should ask is if you must run the specific Vendor tooling to deploy Ceph, and what a migration path is if that doesn't match your current deployment system.
It would help to identify vendors if you described how you're using Ceph, and what sort of hardware platforms. I mention both, because some vendors, e.g. Cisco, wrap their support offering around RedHat/IBM Ceph, and I think Cisco only support RBD, for high-reliability use cases. No CephFS, No RGW. I think Cisco are also trying to hand off that department entirely to HCLTech. You MUST use their tooling ecosystem around Ceph only. As Anthony noted, some people on this list also do private consulting on Ceph work.
