Re: Squid Manager Daemon: balancer crashing orchestrator and dashboard
Just chiming in to say this also affected our cluster, same symptoms and a temporary fix of disabling the balancer. Happy to add my cluster's logs to the issue, though I suspect they'll look the same as Laimis' cluster. -Alex MIT CSAIL

Please don't assume that. Please do update the tracker issue. We do not yet know how to reproduce this error, so more information is better right now. Thanks!

From the description of the issue, a traceback or core of the mgr in this state would probably be invaluable if you can get one and include it in the tracker as well.
Experiencing the same problem. Disabling balancer helps.
Hey all, I believe I have found the issue. You can follow updates on https://tracker.ceph.com/issues/68657. Thanks, Laura On Fri, Oct 25, 2024 at 9:29 AM Kristaps Čudars <kristaps.cudars@gmail.com> wrote:

Hello Ceph community, First of all - big thanks to Laura for bringing a fix to this. Can't wait to try it out! While we're waiting for the 19.2.1 to arrive I've just wanted to ask if anyone knows any neat alternatives for the built-in Ceph balancer? We're keeping it off for now and manually set reweights for OSDs that get close to 90%. In addition we sometimes use the jj-balancer[1] to move pgs around OSDs. I saw some threads years ago people recomending archimedes as well[2]. If anyone knows any other good alternatives - please feel free to share. 1: https://github.com/TheJJ/ceph-balancer 2: https://github.com/digitalocean/archimedes Thanks, Laimis J. laimis.juzeliunas@oxylabs.io
