RADOS Gateway IAM for Production Environments ( reef to squid upgrade )
Hi Everyone ! I am planning to upgrade ceph from reef to squid to benefit from RGW IAM .Does anybody know is it still a tech-preview ?Would an update be a nice solution to have this feature ?
the user account and IAM features are fully supported in squid - not "experimental" or "tech preview" On Mon, Jun 30, 2025 at 10:09 AM ramodav@yahoo.com <ramodav@yahoo.com> wrote:

That's good to know. In this blog post [1] however the very start of it states: "Efficient multitenant environment management is critical in large-scale object storage systems. In the Ceph Squid release, we’ve introduced a transformative feature as a Tech Preview: Identity and Access Management (IAM) accounts." So, it explicitly states it is a "Tech Preview". And this might scare away users from actually using it. Good to hear it has full support already. Let's get this part of the blog updated. Gr. thanks for pointing that out! the 'tech preview' language must have come from the downstream project. i raised https://github.com/ceph/ceph.io/pull/900 to fix
